ALERT* The Graduate PLUS Loan will no longer be available to new borrowers after July 1, 2026. To retain eligibility after this date, a student must:

have begun their graduate program prior to July 1, 2026, AND
-
have had a Direct Loan disbursed for that program prior to July 1, 2026.
Students who meet both conditions above may continue to borrow Graduate PLUS Loans for the remainder of their current degree program OR for up to three (3) additional years after July 1, 2026 — whichever occurs first, subject to federal credit and eligibility requirements.
Students who begin their program after July 1, 2026 will not be eligible for Graduate PLUS borrowing moving forward.
We strongly encourage students who wish to retain PLUS eligibility to ensure any intended Direct Loan borrowing is initiated and successfully disbursed by June 30, 2026.
